That switching is expensive. A culling pass groups the like decisions together instead, so your brain stays in one mode, mechanical rejection or genuine judgment, for the length of the pass.

The passes a wedding cull typically uses

1. Technical reject pass: clear out misfires, black frames, hopeless blur, and blinks. No deliberation needed.
2. Duplicate or burst pass: for every repeated setup or rapid sequence, keep the strongest frame and reject the rest.
3. Judgment pass: weigh the genuine close calls left over: expression, composition, the moment itself.
4. Coverage pass: check the timeline and family list so nothing important is missing.
